Our offshore wind farms

Since building the world’s first offshore wind farm in 1991, we’ve established ourselves as a global leader in offshore wind. 

Ørsted has the largest operating offshore wind portfolio in the world outside China. Our wind farms can be found off the coasts of Europe, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region.

  • Formosa 1

    Formosa 1


    Location: Miaoli County
    Ownership: Ørsted (35%), JERA (32.5%), Seagull (25%), Stonepeak (7.5%).
    Number of turbines: 22 turbines (4 MW turbine*2, 6 MW turbine*20)
    Installed capacity: 128MW
    In operation since: 2020

    Formosa 1 is Taiwan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm. Located approximately three kilometre off the coast of Miaoli County, the project was Ørsted’s first opportunity to share our more than three decades of offshore wind expertise, including project management, marine engineering, project financing, and global offshore wind Quality, Health, Safety, Environment standards. With a total installed capacity of 128 MW, the offshore wind farm was completed at the end of 2019 and began commercial operations in January 2020, making it the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in Taiwan that can provide clean energy to 128,000 Taiwanese households a year.
