Blade incident at turbine at Greater Changhua 4 offshore wind farm

At around noon on 2 October, an incident involving damage to a turbine blade occurred on one of the wind turbines at the Greater Changhua 4 Wind Farm. At the time of the incident, no personnel were working on the turbine, and there were no vessels within the area. We can confirm that no one was injured and that a safety exclusion zone is in place.

Safety control measures have been put in place in the surrounding waters, and the relevant central and local authorities as well as key stakeholders have been notified. We are working closely with the wind turbine manufacturer, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, to assess the situation. We continue to monitor the turbine through cameras and have relevant work vessels on standby, ready to proceed to the site immediately if necessary to carry out emergency response actions.

Greater Changhua 4 is currently operated by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The wind turbine is currently under warranty by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, which will lead the investigation into the incident. Ørsted is closely following and supporting the investigation with the safety of personnel and protection of the marine environment as the top priorities.
