Since pioneering the world’s first offshore wind farm in 1991, we’ve established ourselves as the unrivalled leader within global offshore wind power production.

We´ve built more offshore wind farms than any other developer in the world – and we´ve only just begun. By 2023, we will have the world´s biggest offshore wind farm in operation as well as Taiwan’s large-scale project.

Formosa 1 is Taiwan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm. Located approximately three kilometre off the coast of Miaoli County, the project was Ørsted’s first opportunity to share our more than three decades of offshore wind expertise, including project management, marine engineering, project financing, and global offshore wind Quality, Health, Safety, Environment standards. With a total installed capacity of 128 MW, the offshore wind farm was completed at the end of 2019 and began commercial operations in January 2020, making it the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in Taiwan that can provide clean energy to 128,000 Taiwanese households a year.
