Engineer for Offshore Wind Turbine Response Tool Development

Imagine a future where you use your engineering background and software tool development expertise to enable the effective design of offshore foundations

Join us in this role where you’ll develop and maintain our primary tools for offshore wind turbine load and response calculations. You’ll be a key person in generating, maturing, and implementing new ideas and state-of-the art methodologies in our in-house hydro-aero-servo elastic simulation tool environment. Through your active role in shaping the tool strategy, you’ll ensure that our tool package is fit for future demands and needs.

Welcome to Structures & Loads

You’ll be part of the newly established Tool Development team where you, together with your colleagues, will constantly push the development, maturation, and maintenance of our internally developed design tools while continuously ensuring the applicability of what is developed for the foundation design process and user-friendliness requirements. We offer an opportunity to work with industry leaders within offshore wind turbine foundation design, load, and structural calculations. You’ll work in a large organisation with a wide range of stakeholders, allowing you to gain a holistic overview of the different units.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • developing, implementing, and validating new methods and features in our in-house hydro-aero-servo elastic tool (DEFlex) for response calculations, incl. interface handling for other commercial codes
  • proactively providing, collecting, and maintaining input to our road map for technical development of our tools, incl. planning, budgeting, and alignment of tasks with our stakeholders
  • facilitating day-to-day execution of tool development and coordinating our features backlog
  • giving technical support and guidance to our load and structural specialists in performing aeroelastic modelling, setting up load calculations, and defining design load cases.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a relevant degree, MSc or PhD, in structural or mechanical engineering, or other related scientific discipline
  • have prior experience, academic or professional, in tool development for response modelling of dynamic structures and finite element analysis
  • possess knowledge of sub-structuring methods with super elements, flexible multibody dynamics, etc.
  • possess solid analytical skills for problem solving and the ability to work with highly complex systems in a structured and inclusive approach
  • have an open and curious mind, an eagerness to understand challenging subjects, and a willingness to constantly drive tasks forward and improve our way of working.
